Blackpool Tower is aiming for the high notes by going for a song this summer. Bosses have launched an all-inclusive £5 admission price for children and senior citizens which includes entry to the award-winning circus. The adult price is £10 for the same deal.
General manager Martin Blore said: "Not only will guests be able to enjoy seven floors of entertainment and attractions, they will also be able to see whet the most spectacular circus show the Tower has staged for many years. Where else can children have so much fun for just £5?"
Many visitors head straight for the lift to the top of the Tower where the bravest of them can step across the 20ft by 10ft glass-floored Walk of Faith, 380 ft above the promenade. At night, during the Illuminations, the obersavation decks offer an electrifying slant on the twinkling wonderland below.
But Blackpool Tower, unlike its Parisienne aunt the Eiffel, is more than just a high rise ride-and-view
It is still Blackpool's tallest story with plenty of tales down below and decade after decade the resort's grand Victorian lady has managed to balance the old and the new in fine style. It brings together a unique combination of the beauty of a historical monument with the thrills and excitement of modern themed attractions.
So what you can expect to find before you seek out those panoramic views? A huge jungle-styled adventure play arena containing Venom, the world's tallest snake slide, is a popular draw with the youngsters seeking safe thrills.
The tower's famous turtles have an eye-catching enormous tank home in the Undersea World aquarium, while dinosaurs, a raging mammoth on the loose and an erupting volcano are just a few of the breathtaking sequences greeting brave travellers on the dark ride The Dawn Of Time.
New this summer is an exhibition devoted to clown king, the late Charlie Cairoli, star of the Tower Circus ring and much-loved by generations of Blackpool holidaymakers. Memorabilia and DVD footage bring back to life Charlie's art of making everybody smile.
The hi-tech walk-through lounge Out of This World is packed with equipment proving science can be fun, but for many holidaymakers - old and young alike - the highlight of a Tower visit remains the splendour of the world-famous ballroom which now provides entertainment for all the family, including the mighty Wurlitzer. |
